A big thank you to the Women's Center at Western Washington University for inviting us to come and speak at their event, "Without My Consent," to present some information about what human trafficking is and what it looks like here in Whatcom County. It is sure to be a great evening. Come out if you can!
Things right now are moving at an even-keel pace and this is a great relief. There are processes in motion to pursue new funding and to partner up with some other wonderful organizations here in town. Cameron and I are thankful for people's continued support and for the new directions that this work is heading. We are doing direct contact work in downtown Bellingham and thanks to our church, REDEEMER, there will be supplies available to hand out, meeting the practical needs of youth on the streets. This will allow us to serve high risk youth and develop relationships with them.
I want to continue to encourage anyone interested to get involved in this work. Some easy ways to do this are:
1. Request a training/presentation:
You can request a training/presentation for your agency, church, bible study, community action group, or inquire about any of our upcoming events by emailing us at bridgescoalition@gmail.com
2. Get involved locally:
Learn more, find resources, and get connected with groups and organization in your area fighting for freedom against exploitation. We have links and resources available here at our website. Unite with like minded people to advocate for those who's voices are not being heard. In your agency, you can do this by joining us in creating an inter-agency partnership so that victim response can be efficient and effective. Again, contact us with any questions or if you would like ideas on where to start.
3. Support this work:
You can donate financially or in kind to our ongoing work in the heart of Downtown Bellingham and broader Whatcom County. For Bridges you can donate through our partnership with Northwest Family Life. Details listed at the bottom left side of this website.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this and for praying and supporting this work. We appreciate you and praise God that He is allowing us to do this ministry.
Peace and Grace,
The Meyers
